One of the primary aims of ECL in the first year was to create an exciting environment to develop Fiji engineers, and in particular Fiji graduates, who had tertiary qualifications from abroad and diploma level engineers graduating from the Fiji Institute of Technology.
ECL continuously develops its local engineers to a higher level of professional expertise and strives to maintain a dynamic work environment. With ECL's recent overseas projects in 2003, ECL has mobilised its engineers and engineering technicians to Japan, Samoa, Tuvalu, Kiribati and New Zealand through ongoing engineering projects.
Staff members are encouraged to continue tertiary education and pursue offshore training in New Zealand and Australia and are given instruction in PADI scuba diving, defensive driving and toastmasters.
ECL is also very active in local sporting events, such as the Business House Outrigger Canoe events and extra mural rugby, to name a few.
